Tilak Varma

N. Tilak Varma was born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh on November 08, 2002. He is a left-handed batsman who plays for–– Hyderabad in domestic cricket and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. Tilak is a talented middle-order batsman with a wristy style— known for his explosive hits. He is also a useful orthodox spin bowler and a brilliant fielder. This combination of diverse skills makes him a valuable player for any team.

Tilak made his First-Class debut for Hyderabad in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy. Later, his T20 debut a year later. Although initially struggled in the Under-19 World Cup for India. But, he continued to work hard and improve his game. In the 2020-21 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Tilak showed his best talents. He scored 180 runs and took five wickets. He also recorded 214 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament that year.

Thanks to his impressive performances, Mumbai Indians acquired his services for Rs 1.7 crore in the IPL Auction ahead of the IPL 2022. Tilak scored an impressive 397 runs in his debut campaign. Unfortunately, Mumbai Indians finished last on the points table. Mumbai retained him for the following season. Currently, he is now a part of the IPL 2024. Many people believe that Tilak is the next big thing in Indian cricket.

Tilak made his IPL debut in 2022 and has played 25 matches to date. He scored 740 runs with an average of 38.95. He has hit three half-centuries and a highest score of 84*. In his IPL career, he has hit 55 fours and 39 sixes. In May 2023, he played his last IPL match against Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad, India. In his last match, scored 43 runs off 14 balls.
