Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Ashok Yadav is an Indian cricketer who plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket. He was born on September 14, 1990, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Yadav is known as ‘SKY.’ He is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off-break occasionally. Yadav had a great start to his career when he played his first List-A match against Gujarat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in February 2010. He scored 41 runs off 37 balls, ranking second in the game. He scored 73 runs in his first-class debut for Mumbai against Delhi in the 2010–11 Ranji season.

Yadav scored the most points of any member of his squad with 754 from nine games at an average of 68.54 in the following Ranji season. He scored more than 1000 runs at the U23 level in the 2011–12 season and won the MA Chidambaram Trophy. Mumbai Indians signed him for the 2012 IPL season, but he was overlooked during the entire season due to the presence of seasoned players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, and Kieron Pollard.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought Yadav in 2014 for INR 70 lakhs. Yadav became the KKR team’s vice-captain and played for the franchise till 2018. Yadav returned to Mumbai Indians in the 2018 IPL mega auction. He scored more than 400 runs for the first time in an IPL season in 2020. He won three IPL titles with the franchise. He was named their vice-captain in 2023. Yadav made his international debut in March 2021 against England. He played his first ODI in July 2021 against Sri Lanka. His breakthrough season in T20s came in 2022, when he became the first Indian to be World No. 1 in the format in October 2022.

Surya Kumar Yadav made his IPL debut in 2012. He has since played 139 matches, scoring 3249 runs with an average of 32.17. Yadav has hit 1 century and 21 half-centuries. It has his highest IPL score 103 runs. He has hit 349 fours and 112 sixes in his IPL career. In the IPL Auction 2024– the Mumbai franchise acquired Yadav’s services for Rs 8.00 Cr. In May 2023, he played his last IPL match against Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India. Here, he scored 61 runs off 38 balls.
