Delhi Capitals Lose Lungi Ngidi After Harry Brook Before IPL 2024

If you are a DC fan, prepare yourself for the news IPLCricBet is about to inform you. ‘Delhi Capitals’ suffer another major misfortune right before the IPL is about to start this year. After losing batsman Harry Brook, the South African pacer Lungi Ngidi has also been ruled out from the competition. But to know what happened in detail, keep reading to find out more.

All about Lungi Ngidi and Harry Brook pulling out of DC

What happened to Lungi Ngidi to have him ruled out?

Lungi Ngidi endured a left lateral ankle sprain when he played the T20I series against India. He has not played after the match since January. He also will not be playing for the Pakistan Super League (PSL). To remedy the situation, DC has since announced that Jake Fraser-McGurk will be replacing him in the team.

The Australian all rounder has played 2 ODIs for Australia. He joined the Delhi franchise for INR 50 lakh as his reserve price. This is why Lungi was ruled out of IPL 2024.

Why did Harry Brook pull out of the Delhi franchise?

Batsman Harry Brook withdrew from the Delhi franchise stating personal reasons. The English player was signed on for INR 4 crore by DC. He left the team during the preparatory camp in UAE in late January. He pulled out of England’s recently finished Test series, which happened in India, and returned to his family.

According to starpunternews, he clarified the situation later on with the following statements.

“I was so excited to be picked by Delhi Capitals and was so looking forward to joining up with everyone,” Brook said in a statement on Instagram.

“Whilst I don’t think I should need to share my personal reasons behind this decision, I know there will be many asking why. So I do want to share this. I lost my grandmother last month – she was a rock to me and I spent a huge amount of my childhood in her home; my attitude to life and love for cricket was shaped by her and my late grandfather.

“When at home, there would hardly be a day go by that didn’t include seeing her. It makes me so happy that she was able to see me play cricket for England. I’m proud that she could collect some of the awards I have won over the last couple of years when I couldn’t be there and I know she enjoyed doing that.”
