Dewald Brevis is a young cricketer from South Africa who plays— Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. He was born on April 29, 2003. He is known as ‘Baby AB’ for his playing style. Brevis is a versatile player who can— hit powerful shots, build an inning for his team, and bowl occasional right-arm leg-spin. He is also a skilled fielder and an asset to any team.
Brevis started his professional career with Northerns during the 2021-22 domestic cricket season in South Africa. He then earned a spot in the U-19 South African team. Later, he went to the West Indies for the Under-19 World Cup. Brevis impressed everyone with his performance at the tournament. He scored two centuries and three fifties and won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award. He scored 506 runs, which is a record for the highest number of runs scored at an ICC U-19 tournament.
Mumbai Indians signed Brevis for Rs. 3 crore ahead of the IPL 2022 in a high-competition auction. He had a decent debut season in IPL where he scored 161 runs. Not only with bat, he also picked up one wicket in seven games. In the IPL Auction 2024, the Mumbai franchise acquired the services of Dewald Brevis for Rs 3.00 Cr. He played his last IPL match against Delhi at the Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai, India. Here, he scored 37 runs off 33 balls. To this date, Brevis has played seven IPL matches where he scored 161 runs, and hit 14 fours and 11 sixes. This is the highest IPL score is 49 runs.
