The young player is renowned for his passionate, aggressive celebrations after taking wickets. His body language is often compared to former South African pacer Dale Steyn.

• List A Debut: for Free State in the 2018 – 2019 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge on 14 October 2018
• Twenty20 Debut: for Knights in the 2018 – 2019 CSA T20 Challenge on 12 April 2019
• First Class Debut: for Knights in the 2019 – 2020 CSA 4 Day Franchise Series on 7 October 2019

International Career:

• Rajasthan Royals signed Coetzee for IPL 2021 as a replacement for Liam Livingstone on 1 May 2021.
• Mumbai Indians signed him on for INR 5 Crore for IPL 2024.
• ODI Debut: on 18 March 2023 in East London in the second ODI of the series. He took 3 wickets.

Major Achievements:

• Coetzee was selected in South Africa’s squad for the 2023 Cricket World Cup in September 2023. This marked his maiden World Cup tournament at the age of 23.
• He became one of the key pacers in South Africa’s pace battery during the course of the World Cup.
• He ended the tournament as the leading wicket taker for South Africa with 20 scalps in 8 matches.
• He also became the leading wicket taker for South Africa in a single edition of the World Cup when he took his record 18th scalp in a group stage match against Afghanistan.
