Mustafizur Rahman

Mustafizur Rahman is a 29-year-old Bangladeshi cricketer. He’s known for his left-arm fast-medium bowling style. His nickname is ‘Fizz’ because of his teammates as he has a lot of variations. Mustafizur’s cricketing talent was recognized early in his cricket career. He helped him become a part of Bangladesh’s Under-19 team for the 2014 World Cup. He impressed everyone with his performance. He took eight wickets and earned a spot in Bangladesh A’s series with West Indies.

Interestingly, he has an excellent performance in domestic cricket. Due to his performance, Mustafizur made it to the national team in 2015. He played his first T20I match against Pakistan. In this match, he took the wickets of Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Hafeez. In the same year, he made his ODI debut against India. Also, became the second bowler in ODI history to take two five-wicket hauls in his first two matches. He’s also the only cricketer to receive the Man of the Match awards on both ODI and Test debut.

In 2016, Mustafizur debuted in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Sunrisers Hyderabad team. He took 17 wickets in 16 games and helped the team win the IPL title. Over the years, he has played for Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. Currently plays for the Delhi Capitals. He’s also an active player in BPL, NatWest T20 Blast, and Pakistan Super League. However, he got into an on-field collision with MS Dhoni during his debut ODI against India in 2015. This led to him and Dhoni being penalized 50% and 75% of their match fees, respectively.

In the IPL Auction 2024, Mustafizur was acquired by the Chennai franchise for Rs 2.00 Cr. He has played 48 matches in his IPL career. Further, takes 47 wickets, with an average of 30.72. In addition, nearly 7.93 runs per over, and a best individual figure of 3/16. His last IPL match was in April 2023 against Bangalore at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Interestingly in this match, he had bowling figures of 41/0.
