Simarjeet Singh

Simarjeet Singh is an Indian pacer who was born– January 17, 1998. He currently plays for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League and Delhi in the domestic circuit. The tall, deft pace bowler is renowned for his ability to take wickets with the new ball and can regularly reach speeds of 140 kmph. On September 20, 2018, he made his professional debut with Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for 2018–19. He also made his debut in the Ranji trophy with them later that season. Simarjeet however experienced a cold start to his career with just one wicket in the 35 overs he bowled in the Ranji match.

But as time went on, he began to improve and was a regular in the Delhi domestic team. His raw pace and impressive performances on the domestic circuit landed him a spot with the Delhi Daredevils, but only as a net bowler. He also flew with the Indian team as a net bowler on its July 2021 tour of Sri Lanka. He was fortunate enough to be included in India’s playing eleven for their final two Twenty20 International matches of the tour, despite the outbreak of COVID-19 at the time.

Regardless, he did not appear in any of the games. But his talent was noticed, and he was eventually able to break into the Indian Premier League. Midway through the 2021 season, the Mumbai Indians signed him as a replacement for Arjun Tendulkar. In 2022, he was purchased at auction by the Chennai Super Kings for Rs. 20 lakhs. This marks his first full season in the IPL. He was kept by CSK for the 2023 IPL.
