According to our sources, Pant underwent massive rehabilitation at the NCA. This began in Bengaluru in April 2023. He recently got his fitness clearance and left the NCA a few days ago.

Why did Rishabh undergo a surgery and rehabilitation?

It began when Rishabh was playing the 2 – match Test Series. This was in Bangladesh in December 2022. He was returning to Roorkee (his home) after the series ended. Pant got into a lethal car accident on 30 December 2022.

At first, he was brought to Saksham Hospital Multispecialty and Trauma Centre. But soon, he was shifted to Max Hospital in Dehradun. When his situation became extreme, he was airlifted to Mumbai. This happened on 4 January 2023. Pant went to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for surgery and further recovery.

Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala is the head of the Centre for Sports Medicine, and Director of Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service, who also serves on the medical committee of the ICC. He operated on Rishabh’s right knee ligament. After that, Rishabh has been undergoing extensive rehab to return to the field. His initial recuperation treatment included physiotherapy and hydrotherapy sessions. This was done so that he could become crutch free in May, as reported by starpunternews.

First outing after Rishabh’s surgery and his recovery routine

Rishabh was first seen in April after his surgery. He was attending DC’s match against GT at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Back at the NCA, Rishabh was made to walk on soil and grass as part of his treatment. He also had to climb stairs and run on an anti – gravity treadmill. He had to go through a strict custom – made routine with the goal of regaining flexibility and strength.

Strength and conditioning coach Rajnikanth Sivagnanam along with physiotherapist Thulasi Ram Yuvaraj worked with Rishabh at the NCA to speed up his recovery process. As a part of his return to the field, Rishabh began playing cricket again in July 2023. He also appeared on DC’s auction table in Dubai for IPL 2024 Player Auction. This was held in December 2023.

He participated in many 20 – over game simulations with Hardik Pandya at the NCA. This was done to test and ensure his performance is at its peak for the upcoming IPL season.
