In his previous IPL term last season, Wood showed his abilities by taking 11 wickets in four matches, including a notable five wicket haul against Delhi Capitals. Wood has an impressive record of 104 wickets in 32 Test matches for England, with an average of 30.04 and an economy rate of 3.25. In One Day Internationals, he has played 66 matches, clinching 77 wickets at an economy rate of 5.52. Also, he has taken 45 wickets in 28 T20 Internationals and was a member of the England team that acquired victory in the 2022 T20 World Cup held in Australia.

Before making his mark in cricket, Shamar Joseph had a different career path. He worked as a protector to support his family, including his young child. Yet, his love of cricket became excessive, pushing him to take the bold move of leaving his work to pursue cricket professionally. This move paid off as he debuted in professional cricket for the Guyana Harpy Eagles in February 2023. Despite only appearing in three matches that season, Joseph impressed by taking nine wickets, displaying his promise and earning a place in the West Indies A squad for their tour of South Africa.

Arshin Kulkarni – Rs. 20 lakh
M. Siddharth – Rs. 2.40 crore
Ashton Turner – Rs. 1 crore
David Willey – Rs. 2 crore

After the auction, the team had Rs. 95 lakh remaining in their purse. However, with the replacement of Mark Wood, they were able to free up an additional Rs. 7.5 crore.
